CODE INNOVATIONS + POLICY LEADERSHIP FOR RESTORATIVE DEVELOPMENT
2015 {LIVING BUILDING LECTURE SERIES}
Stacia Miller, Policy and Advocacy Manager, International Living Future Institute
Chris van Daalen, codeinnovations.org V2A Symposiums

Thursday September 24th @ 12pm
McGranahan Architects
2111 Pacific Ave. Tacoma, WA 98402

Project teams across the Cascadia region and beyond are using innovative designs, materials and technology to
design healthy, high-performing buildings and communities. Yet many innovators are stalled by regulations that
favor conventional approaches to development; and more proactive policy leadership is needed to make truly
restorative design, construction practices and building products the norm rather than the exception.

Members of the South Sound Collaborative and NW EcoBuilding Guild will team up for a collaborative session to
discuss specific code innovations and advocacy priorities for our South Sound communities. We will explore how
Seattle and other communities have incentivized and removed barriers to projects pursuing the Living Building
Challenge, and how exemplary policy leadership could be replicated in the South Sound to encourage truly
restorative development.

Important discussion points:

  • What green building policies are currently in place in Tacoma
  • Where we see potential opportunities for policy leadership
  • How the South Sound Collaborative + Guild can inspire and advocate local policy change

Your input and involvement are critical. We hope to see you there!
PLEASE RSVP TO EVENTBRITE.
