Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Liz Kent, Noel Herdman, Peter Veighey

Visitors:
Many thanks to Peter, Neil and Noel for helping out observing. Good to meet
Phillipa and Mark from New Brunswick with their cute dog Gus.

Weather:
Overcast all day with drizzle around midday. Wind was generally moderate
from the south west. Cooler today but temperature rose to 27c in the
afternoon. Visibility was restricted by haze and low cloud.

Raptor Observations:
The morning was owned by the Falcons, with the majority of 12 American
Kestrels, 7 Merlins and a Peregrine appearing then. The afternoon brought a
single kettle of 20 Turkey Vultures, 3 Ospreys and 6 Sharp-shinned Hawks.
Highest day total so far.

Non-raptor Observations:
New species for the season were Nashville Warbler and American Black Duck.
There were good numbers of Tree Swallow (400) hawking low down over the
marsh. American Goldfinch (52) numbers have increased with Cedar Waxwing
(111) numbers falling a little.  The Common Gallinule made another
appearance. 6 Species of Warbler were seen today, frustratingly mostly
hiding under the foliage. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S149213334

Predictions:
The wind is forecast to be from the north east tomorrow. It will be
overcast and temperatures are slightly lower, but the northern aspect will
hopefully mean more Hawks, particularly Sharp-shinned Hawks, American
Kestrels and maybe Broad-winged Hawks.
