Soda blasters came in and covered the ground around the boat, taped plastic
to the sides to "tent" the boat and went to work, cleaning up when they were
done.  I don't
remember the cost except that I thought at the time that it was very
reasonable.

I was quoted a price of $1000 to soda blast the bottom paint from a 23' twin
keel aux. sailboat about a year ago. The contractor measured the boat and
found that it had about 200 sq. ft. of bottom area. From further discussions I
found that he used a "rule of thumb" of about $5 per sq. foot for estimating
prices.
