Foss Waterway Seaport's Summer Science SeaCamp - Session II - August 11-14, 2014 – 9 AM to 3:30 PM - For campers going into grades 5 or 6.
The Seaport's Summer Science SeaCamp Session II is titled "I’m a Marine Biologist and My Eyes are on YOU!" This camp, perfect for students going into 5th or 6th grade, will be four days full of experiences based around marine life located in Puget Sound. We will start the camp with a low tide beach study observing, touching and appreciating the diversity of marine life
This camp will give campers a chance to investigate local marine life up close and personal. After observing live "critters" both in their nature setting and found in the Seaport's instructional touch tanks, they will build working models to illustrate the functionality of unique features in select creatures. We will offer trips to the beach and on a boat to round out the learning experience.
Campers will participate in the following activities:
• Study marine life in their natural settings
• Build working models of some of marine “critters”
• Conduct experiments to understand how mussels can be natural pollution cleaners
• Explore hands-on field investigations
• Discover the difference between plankton and macro invertebrates
• Eat foods from the sea
