CCWC Members and Friends,
Please join us for the next Chambers-Clover Watershed Council meeting on Wednesday, September 9th, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. We meet in the 3rd floor Executive Conference Room at Lakewood City Hall, 6000 Main Street SW in Lakewood.
The focus of this month's meeting is on how our wastewater affects our environment. We'll answer the question "What happens to my wastewater?" by learning about the two primary ways wastewater is treated in our watershed: wastewater treatment plants (for sewered areas) and onsite septic systems. Larry Ekstrom, Pierce County Sewer Utility, will give an overview of the operations and water quality treatment at the Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is one of the major facilities in the South Sound. Ray Hanowell, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, will then talk about onsite septic systems and how wastewater is treated in areas that are not connected to the sewer system.
We hope you'll join us to learn how these treatment methods impact our watershed and what you can do to keep them functioning properly and protect our water quality. Read up on these topics in advance at http://www.piercecountywa.org/pc/abtus/ourorg/pwu/sewer/wwtp/ccwtp.htm or http://www.tpchd.org/page.php?id=164.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great Labor Day weekend and we'll see you next week!
