Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end  time: 13:00:00
Total observation time: 5 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Liz Kent

Visitors:
Nice to see Dave and Jane and Ramesh and Chandra again today.

Weather:
Cold day with temperature about 3c, together with a moderate to strong wind
initially from the northwest then southwest. Overcast with snow arriving at
midday.

Raptor Observations:
Few raptors flying today, 6 Red-tailed Hawks, and single Cooper's Hawk,
Red-shouldered Hawk and a nice male Northern Harrier.

Non-raptor Observations:
Numbers are generally lower on the marsh today, although more Green-winged
Teal seem to be present, and the Gadwall (800) numbers continue to hold up.
Two hardy Great Egrets are still in the Creek, but they probably regretted
being here when the snow arrived. There was a good passage of American
Goldfinch (232), American Robin (94) and Cedar Waxwing (75) probably moving
south due to the temperature drop. Nice to see three species of swan on the
marsh, although Mute Swan numbers have reduced markedly. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S122316116

Predictions:
Tomorrow is forecast to be dry but overcast, with a strong wind from the
northwest. It will remain cold. Hopefully the northern aspect to the wind
will bring more raptors than today. Let's hope that the cold weather to the
north brings Rough-legged Hawks to us!
