Lecturer – Contemporary Digital Communication and Culture

The Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology (ICCIT)
at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a
teaching-stream appointment in the field of Contemporary Digital
Communication and Culture with an emphasis on Mass Media and Visual
Communication at the rank of Lecturer. The start date of the position is
July 1, 2014.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Digital Communications or the use of
Digital Media in Creative Education and must possess a record of excellence
in teaching at the undergraduate level. An academic background in
media/communications with specific emphasis on digital media is expected.
A key element of the position will be the direction of the ICCIT internship
program. Candidates must have experience in developing and managing
internship and work experience programs for undergraduate students in both
traditional and digital media. Candidates must show evidence of excellence
in teaching and a record of pedagogical inquiry and development,
particularly in the area of experiential learning.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Appointments at the rank of Lecturer may be renewed annually to a maximum
of five years. In the fifth year of service, Lecturers shall be reviewed
and a recommendation made with respect to promotion to the rank of Senior
Lecturer.
ICCIT is a newly established Institute at the University of Toronto
Mississauga that focuses on teaching and research excellence in its four
undergraduate programs: Communication, Culture, Information and Technology
(CCIT), Interactive Digital Media (IDM), Digital Enterprise Management
(DEM), and Professional Writing and Communication (PWC). Currently, the
ICCIT is building a research complement in social networking and
communication, interactive and immersive digital media and culture, and the
theory and practice of design, with an emphasis on all aspects of digital
media. Through its internship program and research projects, the Institute
is also involved with community, profit- and non-profit organizations.
