From: SWM Updates [mailto:SWMUpdates@ci.tacoma.wa.us] Subject: Public Meeting to Review Revisions to City of Tacoma Design Manual and Side Sewer Availability Manual Good Morning - An updated Municipal Stormwater Permit was issued to the City of Tacoma on August 1, 2013, by the Washington State Department of Ecology under the Clean Water Act. The permit requires that the City of Tacoma update its Stormwater Management Manual and review development codes and guidance to encourage Low Impact Development (LID). The NPDES permit mandated code and regulatory document updates include changes to the Public Works Design Manual (PWDM) and Tacoma Municipal Code and are required to become effective by January 7, 2015. The City will be updating the PWDM as needed to incorporate LID and is also reviewing and updating, as needed, all areas of the PWDM including: Street Design, Wastewater and Stormwater Design, Streetlighting, Traffic Signalization, Channelization, Pavement Markings, Paths and Trails, and Pedestrian Facilities. A draft of the updated City of Tacoma Design Manual is available for public comment at http://www.cityoftacoma.org/government/city_departments/environmentalservices/education_and_involvement/ . An overview of changes to the Design Manual and respective code changes will be presented and comments will be accepted at the public meeting on October 8, 2015. Public comments on the Design Manual will be accepted at the public meeting or in writing until October 22, 2015.
