Tacoma Ocean Fest is this weekend! Here's your complete guide to planning out the festivities, from lanterns to murals to plastic cleanup and more.
- June 8-11: Sean Yoro paints a water mural at Foss Waterway Seaport
- June 10: Lantern Paddle for Species, 7-10pm at Foss Waterway Seaport
- June 11: Beach Cleanup, 9:30am-12pm at Chambers Bay Park Beach
- June 12: OCEAN FEST, 10am-5pm at Foss Waterway Seaport
- June 15-17: Tacoma Ocean Film Fest, 7-9pm at The Grand Cinema
Note: Parking is limited, so carpool, ride, paddle or take transit if you can! Directions here. Remember your water bottle and dress for the weather. |

A mural in the water
Sean Yoro has started painting his water mural! Working from a paddleboard, the Hawaiian artist creates "Malalo" (Beneath), panel by panel, on themes of endangered species and how we're all connected. Watch Sean paint June 8-11 on the water below the Foss Waterway Seaport esplanade, and meet him at Ocean Fest! |

Lanterns for species
Bring a lamp, lantern or luminaria and come down to the Lantern Paddle for Species this Friday!
6-10pm: Free museum entry with sneak-peek ocean art
7-8pm: PLU Steel Pan ensemble, food trucks
8-9pm: Vuelta la Luna aerial and LED circus
9-10pm: Paddle (watch from land or launch from the dock) with flute music by Paul Chiyokten Wagner. ALL FREE. Need a paddle? Sign up now for the Metro Parks kayak trip! |

Come vibe with a Hawaiian band, make a trash art whale and clean up Chambers Bay Park beach this Saturday with us and South Sound Surfrider! Meet at the lower parking lot. Details on our webpage. |
