Wednesday night racing in Haverstraw Bay has no official race committee, racers share the responsibility to officiate the race.  They have no race patrol and therefore no strain on manpower, no fleet has to "volunteer" members.  The races are attended by various boat clubs in the area.  They still have competition, a reason to sail your boat in 6kt winds, trophies and more importantly a good time in all weather.

Anybody have a used code 2 flag for sale?

I race in the Haverstraw Wednesday series in Zoom, and the NBC Sunday races.? I like the variety, and am glad to be included in the Nyack series.? Whatever rules you come up with are fine with me.? A flag costs $10 at West.

In Haverstraw, we are asked to volunteer to be race Marshall one evening a season.? I have done it and it is a worthwhile experience.? It is not easy and makes you appreciate the committee boat.? Our marks are permanent and we don't seem to need a crash boat.? The races don't just happen.? Hudson Cove Yacht Club, which shares facilities at Miniscionga YC sponsors the races, and several people devote a fair amount of time to organizational tasks.?
