OK. So I didn't mean let's end Wednesday Night racing. I meant (obviously) a
Turkey Race might be a nice traditional event to end the Wednesday Night
racing series each year. You can stop the e-mails.
But this gives me an opportunity to apologize for leaving Mike Lucas off the
Race Committee list, and to Lou Spitz for making a typo on his finish time
(19:13:21, not 19:31:21). Sorry Mike and Lou.
Even though Wednesday Night racing is done for the year, there are still
eight Sundays of beautiful Fall racing left in the season. If Encore does
the impossible to achieve a 100% racing attendance record, you can be sure
she'll be on the line and taking on all challengers between now and the end
of October. Go Encore!
See you on the water.

To All -
Well, maybe we should do this every Wednesday night.
In case you missed it, the Turkey Race was really fun thanks to our Race
Committee Howie Rinehart, et. al. The wind came up from the northwest just
before the start, everyone had a broad reach of one mile to mark C, and a
beat back to the finish. The staggered starts caught some unaware, but
others were right on the line at their start times. There must be some
awesome photographs of this race as everyone headed downwind at once! First
to round the leeward mark was Joanne Smolen in 50/50, followed closely by
Matt Schlanger and Caleb Davison in Odalisque.
As advertised, the first to cross the finish line after the one mile beat
back - won. Our winner, Dave Otterbein and his crew in Breakaway, received
their 12 lb frozen turkey, and Dan Blitzer, in Solar Wind, accepted his last
place chicken with good grace.
We hope everyone had a good time and, once again, thanks to Howie and his
Race Committee. Let's hope we've started an annual thing to end Wednesday
Night racing.
