Erie Canal

This morning, 5 boats (including Tug 44) left Erie Canal Lock 25 eastbound
thru the flood zone ... with a Canal Corp escort boat.  Half way to Lock 24
in Baldwinsville, we met 17 westbounders in a similar convoy.  The Canal is
now open with the escort restriction between 24 and 25.

This evening I am at Winter harbor Marina in Brewerton ... a rather nice
place ... and in the morning I'll cross Oneida Lake eastbound and headed
for home.

Today was Day 31 of my 3 week trip.  So much for planning.  I should be
home by Tuesday/Wednesday

Hi, Fred. I am curious about the canal escort boat. Was that perhaps to
ensure everyone stayed at a no wake pace?

There were con cerns about no wake  speed, and yes there were trailers with
water half way up the wheels .. wake would have  been very bad.  Bridge
clearances were a problem too, the escort carried a long stick to measure
before we went thru.
