Reminder: Markup Hearing

Markup of the House FY19 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill is now under way. If you’re interested, the webcast link is here:

https://appropriations.house.gov/calendar/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=395358 https://appropriations.house.gov/calendar/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=395358

I forgot to mention this yesterday: The assumption by Democratic staff and the education community here in Washington is that the earlier markups had been postponed because they were anticipating that Democrats on the Committee would use the opportunity to berate the administration on his immigration policies. I know that this issue has died down a tad in the press but it's obviously still ongoing and so I assume that this will be raised often this morning.

…and in fact, I just tuned in and sure enough, Rep. DeLauro has already brought it up. I can’t watch - hopefully someone on this list will be able to. Although it could go on for a while!

Good backgrounder in EdWeek from last month on the education issues related to the administration's zero-tolerance policy:

Come up several times already! Rep. Diaz-Balart was rather testy, then asked lower the decibels!
