LSR Residents,
You have heard the phrase, the best-laid plans of mice and men often go
awry. No matter how carefully a project is planned, something may still go
wrong with it. That is exactly what happened today. The FM's Office was
called to LSR with Quality Access Gate to deactivate the gate. The FM's
office has turned this dispute over to the COSA Attorney's office to
review. Our legal counsel has advised us to comply and leave the gate
closed until they can discuss with the COSA Attorney. That is to take
place next week. We are confident that we can resolve this to the
satisfaction of the COSA and LSR.
I do want to give a huge shout out to LSR for the courtesy, the restraint
and genuine respect shown as you passed through the back gate this am.
This again defines who we are and how others perceive us.
Fortunately for us, the rain has delayed the front access road opening
until next Friday. We do have some options and will be discussing and
weighing those with our legal counsel.
As always, your safety is priority for the BODs. We do not want to put you
or your family in any situation that would risk their safety. The BODs
will keep you updated on progress. If you have further questions, don't
hesitate to reach out to any of the BODs.
Thank you.
Do you mind de-coding COSA? And FM? And perhaps summarize exactly what is the issue about the gate to warrant the activity described?

I believe FM is Fire Marshall. Not sure what COSA is.
What was the grounds for closing the gate?
Thanks

I am curious as to what the issue is, also. It seems to me that,
considering the amount of time and effort that has gone into getting
that back gate operational and the fact that it was part of the original
design of the community, all issues should have been resolved by now.

This might have been thought of, but just in case. when this goes to COSA
can you mention that families on the other side of the gate would benefit
from it being open. I know 5 families on that side that would appreciate
when they are in this neighborhood not to have to go all the way around to
get back home. I know other families in this neighborhood must know other
families as well.
Just a thought.

I am confused as to why COSA is even involved. FIRE District #4 and Leon Springs Fire Department have responsibility for fire protection. Why does the city have zoning and building code responsibility instead of the county?Bill Drees

Bill - That’s a good question concerning the building and zoning responsibilities. If the county had more authority, then the argument about the COSA needing to annex to be able to restrict/limit what is built would be a mute point. But that’s a whole different discussion.
