I found two young bluejays underneath a maple tree in our yard. One of the parents is watching them and I’m not sure what I should do with them. They have no tails and don’t seem to be able to fly.  They seem to be calling out a lot. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you!

Leave them. They are recently fledged. The parents will watch out and take care of them. Thank you for caring!

Hi Stacey,

They are very likely fledglings, out of the nest and being fed by parents while they learn to fly and their longer feathers grow in.  There is usually about a week of this awkward and vulnerable stage for fledglings, but they are not lost or abandoned, and they didn't just fall out of the nest -- it's part of the fledging process. Don't touch them and don't call attention to them. Their parents will take care of them.
