Since you three seem to get different results from the same data, it would
be useful to the list if each of you would publish references to your
sources, or describe your computations in detail so that the rest of us can
make our own assessment of the results. Fuel consumption prediction is a
vital matter for all us; we make our estimates in different ways and get
different results. We can never have too much information ...

Generally speaking:
HP=DISP/(10.665/SL)^3
I figure a gallon of diesel makes about 18 to 20 hp for an hour.
Of course you have to know (or assume) something about prop efficiency,
transmission losses, hull shape, etc. so that you can fine tune the numbers
if necessary, but this is a good place to start.
