Mike: Read my first memo on this . I did say a squall and that is exactly
what we got. We were always aware of the weather and chosed our windows very
carefully. Not being on a schedule meant that we could wait as long as required
not to be in sea states that you mentioned. I resent being accused of
statements  that I did not make. I have been there and crossed an ocean with a boat
that  most people say it could not be done. Yet most of our log entries show
departure  and arrivals with no surprises in between. It can be done with
training,  knowledge, patience and luck. Regards. Leonard Stern,  Indifference

It was my last statement in MY post that I was referring to, as the
suspicious one, not Leonard's.
The details about storm size was intended to provide some context to the
conditions reported. Leonard's post mentioning the squall was quite a ways
back. But, it demonstrates that context can be lost as a thread goes on.
This type of threaded forum suffers to some extent from the medium in which
readers come and go. Bits and pieces of the discussion get snipped and so
on. It would be great if every post could snip all the relevant points
starting from the beginning of the thread, but of course that is not
practical. At least at this stage of the technology.  A certain amount of
humor about the process is necessary to prevent anyone from taking the
debates personally.

After all, a fellow is in more danger from himself than anyone else, when
he has lost his sense of humor.

Mike
