Ginger,

On the canals, I typically stay at town walls and such instead of marinas,
but I did stay at Whitehall Marina last week for an overnight on my boat
... and I was pleasantly surprised.  Most of the facilities are all new in
recent years, or at least in excellent condition.  Dinner was across the
water on the east side, at the Finch & Chubb restaurant, and that meal was
absolutely fabulous.  But then I knew it would be, my old friend LeAnn runs
it these days, and I enjoyed her food starting 10 years ago at Division
Street Cafe.  If anything, she's gotten better.

I'd been gabbing with Bill Brina the owner at the bar over some Cabernet,
when LeAnn brought me dinner without my ordering it ... kinda surprised me
.. but it was a definite wow.  It was a light cut of filet mignon and
potatoes, and it was heavenly.  Yeah, I must return soon for more.

The Marina is struggling a bit, due to low traffic on the canals this year
... too many shots from Mother Nature these last few years, but the place
looks great and I definitely had a fun time that night.

When Gerald and I were in the process of doing the "Big Circle" in
1985-86,
we spent several days at the Whitehall Marina and were very impressed with
it.  Obviously, it was a favorite spot for many, many famous people who
are
probably now all dead and gone.  I am glad to know it is still viable!
