Tacoma Food Co-op presents: Toxic Chemicals in Food: Health Impacts and
How to Reduce Exposure

Wednesday, Sept. 9, 7:00pm - 8:30pm
Center for Spiritual Living, 206 North J Street, Tacoma

Many consumer and personal care products are useful in our everyday lives,
but contain chemicals that disrupt hormones.  These endocrine disruptor
chemicals (EDCs) have effects that are fascinating, alarming, and
far-reaching.  Find out how EDCs get into our food, disrupt hormones, and
harm human health, and why children are especially vulnerable.  Attendees
will have the opportunity to brainstorm on how to reduce our exposure and
the exposures of our families to these toxic chemicals, e.g. buying
organically grown fruits and vegetables.

Dr. Fran Solomon is an environmental biologist with a Master’s Degree in
Environmental Health and a Ph.D. in fisheries from UW, and 25 years of
experience in environmental agencies.  She is a professor at The Evergreen
State College Tacoma campus
and Western Washington University.
