Flashlight recommendation

A few years ago someone on the list recommended the Marinebeam Ultra
Long Range CREE RLT Illuminator and I purchased one and was not
disappointed. Great powerful beam but pricey at $129.

I recently ran across a similar looking flashlight that is very similar
in construction but a lot smaller. It is a GearLight High-Powered LED
S2000 . It only uses 4 AA cells and has a zoomable beam similar to the
Marinebeam. I tried them side by side in an anchorage and the Marinebeam
was slightly brighter but there was very little difference. The smaller
light can be carried in your pocket. They are available from Amazon for $22.

I am sure the Marinebeam will outlast the cheaper one because it uses
much bigger batteries but the small one is much handier.

A couple of other things. The US Post Office has a free service that can
send you an email every day with scans of your inbound mail. It just
shows the outside of the envelope but you can see what is coming. You
can sign up at: https://informeddelivery.usps.com

Also the electric utilities in Maryland now have the ability to show
daily electric use for your boat or home. I use Delmarva Power and BGE
and they both can show me how much I use each day. If you are away from
either you can check to see if the electric is being used.
