The 2021 Ontario Bird Records Committee met (virtually) for their annual
general meeting on Saturday 9th April. There is still work to be completed
which will be addressed over the next month or so and a follow-up to this
email will be sent out covering those items.
However, I wanted to thank the members of the 2021 committee: Mark Read
(chair), Brett Fried & Barbara Charlton (non-voting secretary and non-voting
assistant to secretary), Ken Burrell, Mike Burrell (voting member and
archivist), Reuven Martin, Dan McNeal, Nicole Richardson, and Adam Timpf.
Mark Peck acted as the ROM liaison. During their term, Brett Fried and
Barbara Charlton retired from OBRC, with Mike Burrell taking over as interim
non-voting secretary, and Alvan Buckley stepping in to take over Mike's
voting role. The 3-year terms as voting OBRC members for Ken Burrell and
Reuven Martin ended following the conclusion of this year's annual meeting.
The OBRC elected Amanda Guercio and Michelle Martin for 3-year voting terms
moving forward, and Anthony Kaduck was elected to the position of secretary.
Mike Burrell will continue as the non-voting archivist. Nicole Richardson
has been elected to the position of Chair.
I would like to thank all current and former members of the OBRC for their
service and dedication to the task of evaluating submitted records. On
behalf of the entire Committee, I would also like to thank the many members
of the birding community who took the time and effort to document rare bird
sightings in Ontario for consideration by the OBRC. The OBRC would cease to
exist without your support. The submission of rare bird reports, data
requests, questions, comments, concerns, and all other contact with the
Committee may all be done through the obrc@ofo.ca mailto:obrc@ofo.ca .
Regards,
Mark
