Hello all,
Summer is almost upon us and I'm sure many of you are already making
plans for things for your kids to do this summer. Well, I have a
possibility for you to consider. My church, University United Methodist
Church (aka "The U), is offering a VBS (Vacation Bible School) June 19th
through June 22nd from 08:00 to 12:00. Our Elementary Program is for
kids that have completed Kinder through 4th grade. 5th graders will be
part of our Leaders in Training team. There is no charge to participate
in VBS at The U. If you are able, however, you may make a donation to
help offset VBS expenses. (VBS costs approximately $35, per child, per
week.) You must register by 6/5 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. (For more
information please email Debra@TheU.org) You can register on-line at
https://www.theu.org/vbs/.
The U is located at the corner of De Zavala and Vance Jackson (about a
long block east of IH-10 and De Zavala).

Well, I have some more options for anyone who may be interested. These
are all additional options from The U (TheU.org).
2018 Music & Drama Camp (7/9-13/2018) is for campers who have completed
the 1st-5th grade. To quote the information from TheU.org,
"Order in the Court! Join us for a week of fun, music, drama, and
crafts as we present "Judge Julie Truly and the case of the Holey
Roof". Based on Luke 5, this is the story of the man who was lowered
through the roof of a house so that he might be healed by Jesus. You'll
hear testimony from the homeowner, the paralyzed man, and his four
faithful friends. Together we will learn how our LOVE IN ACTION can
bring people right to the feet of our Savior."
There will be a performance by the campers on Friday July 13th at
6:30pm. There is a fee for this event, $50/camper or $80/2 or more
siblings (no cost for adult or student volunteers).
You must register by 6/25 to be guaranteed correct shirt size.

Serve and Play on a Mission
Get excited for this opportunity for 1st-5th graders during the
2017-2018 school year
to Serve and Play together on July 26th & 27th from 9am-2pm!! While
details are still subject to change, Children's Hunger Fund and the San
Antonio Zoo are already confirmed locations for this event.
Transportation will be provided to and from University and between
activity locations. An overnight option, held at the San Antonio Zoo,
is available for 3rd- 5th graders (1st & 2nd grade siblings accompanied
by a parent volunteer are also welcome), but space is very limited.
Contact Amy.Tullos@theU.org for more information.

There are, in addition to the above, a basketball camp (July 31 - August
2), a Middle School Mission Trip (June 24-29) to Uvalde, TX, a Senior
High Mission Trip (July 14-21) to Bogalusa, LA, and volleyball for High
School and up on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30pm, among other opportunities.
These opportunities are open to anyone in the community and offer fun,
recreation, and a chance for kids to learn that they don't have as bad
of a life as they may be telling you they have because they don't have
the latest iPhone or whatever. ;-)
Check it out at https://community.theu.org/default.aspx?page=3471 .
