I rec'd 3 replies - thank you.

One suggested making my own with a NAPA tool, but obtaining the cable to
match what I have is a larger problem.

One suggested a welding supplier, but welding cable isn't what I  want.

One suggested http://www.ezred.com/ (http://www.ezred.com/)  They have just
a  really neat catalog, with just about everything for batteries, except
cables!

One suggested using a golf cart battery supplier, and that got me thinking
about my local  Interstate Battery store. They do make cable, so I will be
stopping by to check the type insulation and stranding to see if it's
appropriate.

Hi,

We had a similar problem a number of years ago on AKAMA when we lived in SE
Asia; we were rewiring the boat to go from four 8Ds to 12 golf cart
batteries.  We could get cables and ends but they were of dubious quality.
Tinned wire, which it should be on a boat, was a "special order" with a big
delay.  Also, we could not get the quality we wanted.  Nobody seemed able or
willing to do the whole job and nobody could show us examples of their
materials, let along finished goods.

We solved the problem by sending an order to Wrangler North West Power
Products (http://www.wranglernw.com/), in Portland OR.  We told them exactly
what we wanted in terms of cable and ends, and provided drawings of exactly
how we wanted the work done.  We were delighted to see that their work came
to us in Singapore BETTER than we specified.  Not only did they use coloured
cable, they put heat shrinks on each terminal marked with POS and NEG.  The
inter-battery cables (golf carts are 6-volt) even had one end marked POS and
the other end marked NEG.  To make it even sweeter, the cost was only
slightly more than the estimates that we got in Asia, including shipping!

The usual disclaimers apply; we are simply happy customers.

West carries marine cable up to 4/0 with the connectors... at west prices of
course :-(  stores don't  have it in stock, need to order it.

there is a vendor on ebay that specializes in marine cables and
accessories...  i cna't find their site in my book marks but they were much
cheaper.  someone had posted the link with good experience, not sure if it
was here on this list.
