Dear Members of the NBC Cruising Fleet,
We are the proud hosts of the Last Chance Regatta which takes place on
October 1st and 2nd and is a HRYRA EVENT that includes Two Days of Racing,
Dining and Fun for ALL.
Our guests are members of the Hudson River Yacht Racing Association which
is, a combination of boat clubs up and down the Hudson River.
As this is hosted by the Cruising Fleet We can make this event as GALLA as
we choose.
I see this as an opportunity to show off the club. Bill Mann has led the
campaign and worked "diligently" to clean the house and grounds to make
our club sparkle.
Making new friends and growing our membership here at the club is what we
do best.
If you would like to volunteer there are many different ways to do so.
If someone would like to run a barbecue dinner instead of having a caterer,
We should do so as the money left over from this event goes to the NBC
Cruising Fleet.
Please don't be shy as I would love to hear your ideas and of course, your
participation is needed, at this Nyack Boat Club Event.
The time to prepare for this event is NOW so please feel free to call,
write, send smoke signals, any way you want, I would love to hear from you
ASAP
Sincerely,
John Michael Cruising Fleet Captain -Racing

Hi all,
Attached are the draft NoR and SIs for the Last Chance Regatta. In terms of
racing they are essentially unchanged from last year.
The only real item for discussion (and that delays sending out the NoR) is
the what we are doing about dinner on Saturday Night.
For the past few years volunteers from the Cruising Fleet (led by Carmen
Yannelli) have prepared the happy hour and dinner. This allowed us to offer
an all-in price that included crew dinners.
Carmen is not able to do this this year, and it is a lot of work. Thus my
proposal is to have Richie do the happy hour, we provide beer and he runs a
cash bar. He will run a limited galley menu and will be open for dinner. I
will do the bagels, etc. on Saturday and Sunday AM.
The finances look like this:
Item Budget Actual Notes
Breakfast 60 Bagels, Coffee
Happy hour 800 100 people @ $8 per head
Trophies 360 12 trophies
Keg 100
Booze n/a Cash Bar
Crew prizes n/a Supplied by HRYRA
Misc. (printing, supplies, etc.) 50
Total 1370
Revenue 900 20 boats at ~$45
P/L -470
For the past 5 years we have run a $200 or so profit on this event so this
year we are going to run a bit over.
We can offset the loss if we sell swag (tshirts or hats) We don't have any
remaining inventory from previous years.
If we are okay with the budget and dinner plans I will send out the NoR and
set up the registration page and PayPal.
In terms of responsibilities I propose the following:
Trophies and Swag: Allen Fligor
Mooring assignments: Matt Schlanger
Breakfast: Volunteer from Cruising Fleet
Setup and clean up: Volunteers from Cruising Fleet
RC coordination: Eric Baumes
Caterer coordination: Eric Baumes
Pre-registration: Eric Baumes
Day of registration: Volunteer from Cruising Fleet
Asking Cruising Fleet for volunteers: John Michael
Making speeches at Regatta and handing out prizes: John Michael
