My dear CITASA colleagues,

The bunch of you, most of whom I have never met in person, have been the
most helpful in brainstorming and to obtaining replies to scholarly but
expansive questions.

I am the editor and lead author on a project to which you may want to offer
your comments, or for which you may even want to review a chapter.

The title will change, but the book being written by a team at Howard
University, Emory, Bucknell, University of Cairo, and Hankuk University of
Foreign Studies is currently being referred to by us as:

Resilient Nation-States of the Emerging East, Nimble Books, LLC, 2011.

Prescriptive, not predictive, the book proposes a blueprint for stable
constitutional republics from Algiers to Lahore, that is to say the greater
Middle East, including east and north Africa. One of the chapters will
consider the role of social networking media not so much as catalysts for
the revolutions in Egypt, Tunisia, etc. but as digital fora for
conceptualizing new governments in the former regimes undergoing
restructuring.

We six authors (and a dozen readers and mentors) are endeavoring collaborate
through the following social-professional networking tools (in approximate
order of value):

www.box.net (an FTP or  file transfer protocol site) where there is a folder
for the book
Quora
listservs, such at that of CITASA feel free to suggest other listservs on
the Middle East and political sociology, for example
blogging - I use http://adrienneredd.wordpress.com
Facebook (topic subgroup)
Linked In
Skype
possibly Ning, though it is no longer free
Gotomeeting and other meeting tools
possibly a Wiki, though we use the FTP site in that way (revising and
re-posting chapters of the book as they evolve)
Twitter

My point is that if you have any interest in the project overall or one of
the specific social networking tools, I'll ³invite² you to these so you can
participate as much or as little as you would like to.

Thank you so much. Your contribution is precious to our team.

Sincerely,

Adrienne Redd
