Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsThanks to all for responding to my inquiry as to what is the best anchor. From what i gather from the comments I have a few choices and some reading to do.
We have cruised the Great Loop and beyond in our 36 foot trawler and in the eighteen years of ownership never had any problem with our CQR. I sold the trawler and purchased a 44 foot cruiser (Heritage East) with a SS CQR and 3/8 in chain. We have anchored the new boat three times since purchase and all three times it took several tries to get the CQR to grab? We are in the habit of always backing down on the anchor to set it. Guess we will try it a couple more times before we change it out.
Happy boating, hope to see you all on the water.

Is it a real CQR or a knock-off?
Definitely a knock-off if it's SS.
