Dear TWL propeller experts,

Would anyone venture an opinion on propeller size for an Albin 43' semi
displacement, hard chine
Single engine, 671 TI,  450 hp @ 2500 rpm, 2 1/4" shaft
Displacement estimated at 35,000 lbs.
Tach guage was inoperative during delivery and then boat was hauled for
winter
Ground speed noted at full power was 12 knots, no tide, no wind.
Cruise speed was an easy 10 knots, felt like 1800 to 2000 rpm
Present wheel is three bladed 30 x 22 right hand with 4" clearance between
skeg and hull (good)

I am replacing with a left hand wheel of same diameter and similar pitch and
skewed blades.
Twin Disc transmission can be operated in either direction as forward, equal
output in F and R with dual clutches.
Left hand wheel will allow walking stern to starboard when backing down, helms
are on starboard side.

Left hand wheel of this size is rare and must be special ordered.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated,

Best regards,

Hal Oakes

Hal, what was you RPMs at full power? That will help the puzzle.

With the amount of power you have, I would guess you could do 15 knots
cruise, 10 knots at around 1400 RPMs.
