Day of Remembrance - Sneak peek into Washington State History Museum's new REMEMBRANCE GALLERY
Be among the first to see this new permanent gallery. Learn about the legacy of Executive Order 9066 in Washington, and commemorate the Day of Remembrance, marking the day when thousands of our Tacoma neighbors of Japanese American descent were ordered to leave their homes and report to Union Station to be taken to internment camps. Gwen Whiting, the Historical Society's lead exhibitions curator, will give you a first look at the ideas for the Remembrance Gallery and talk about the many community members who have made this exhibition possible.

Thursday, May 28, 6:00 PM
Ben Thompson's Guts and Glory, Washington Edition
If you don't know Ben, you're in for a real treat! A history lover and writer, Ben created "Badass of the Week" in 2004 and has written twelve books on various historical subjects, including the Guts & Glory series among others. Ben has appeared on The History Channel, Discovery, the Urban Movie Channel and The American Heroes Channel, and we're lucky that he's a Washingtonian!

Thursday, June 4, 6:00 PM
Suffrage History, Piece by Piece - Storytelling with Collage
Take a look at recent collages created by the Northwest Collage Society to celebrate the suffrage centennial. Use that inspiration to make your own suffrage history collage with images from the Historical Society's collection! Elisa Law, the Historical Society's suffrage centennial coordinator, will guide you through the project and share suffrage history along the way.
