Bruces points are well made.  However the fishing boats may not be the best example.  I think that most folks would be astounded on how many fishing boats are towed back in by other fishing boats.  Generally there are a number of fishing boats in the same area and if failure occurs, then they are towed.

I have a friend who towed another boat which had engine failure across the majority of the Indian Ocean.

Hmmm.  I remember seeing a commercial tow leaving Pago Pago on its way
back to Australia.  At least, that's where he said he was taking the
disabled freighter.

I don't think I'd want to pay that towing invoice!
