The Ogburn Career Achievement Award committee for CITASA would like to
suggest some procedures for nominating candidates.

  1. Make sure, s/he is a sociologist -- although not necessarily serving in
a sociology department. In other words, William Gibson or Judith
    Merrill would not be eligible.

  2. Remember that this is a career award -- not for one great paper/book.

  3. Although a one-sentence letter is all that is formally required to put
someone in play, in practice, a longer letter of 1 or 2 pages tends to be
    more persuasive.

  4. Attach a vitae with the nomination.

  5. Deadline March 7, 2011, midnight, Central Standard Time (USA/Canada)

  6. Don't nominate someone who has already received the award (list on the
website): unlike other CITASA awards (paper, book, etc.), this is for a
    Career. You can't have two.

  7. Try to send the nomination and vitae to all three members of the
committee: me, Hargittai (eszter@northwestern.edu) or Mesch
    (gustavo@soc.haifa.ac.il). Saves coordination costs.
