Received From USCG Portland Office.
Yesterday afternoon around 1430, the tug Sea Commander and barge Ocean
Oregon lost approximately 400 bundles of logs (20 to 30 logs per bundle)
while in transit to Eureka, CA from Vancouver, BC in position 44-53.46N,
124-31.77W (20-25 miles West of Depot Bay, OR). At 1230 today Air Station
North Bend spotted the logs. The majority of the fir logs are still in
bundles and can be found between 45-25N, 124-15W and 45-17.6N, 124-17.1W.
Yesterday evening NOAA ran a trajectory model to give us an idea of where
these logs were heading. With this updated information they are going to
tweak their model and try to get an estimated position for tomorrow
morning. Will keep you informed.
