RadioLabs WaveRV Marine XL Antennae

Several years ago, when I was a still a Windows user, I bought one of the WaveRV antennas from Radiolabs.  At the time, it worked as advertised.  Then I upgraded to my MacBook Pro.  Radiolabs had no driver for the antenna for Mac OSX.  Much run-around from the company, who immediately blamed it on the chip manufacturer.  They were totally unwilling to work on my behalf with the chip manufacturer.  Looks like blaming the chip manufacturer is their modus operandi, and clearly not something an end-user can manage with a Chinese offshore manufacturer.  I did find the chip people on the web, but never received a response.

Fortunately, my Mac's built-in wi-fi performed as well or better than the Radiolabs antenna performed.  The message has to be, "stay away from WaveRV and those disreputable Radiolabs people."  Especially today, there are better solutions available.

Or, just roll your own - using a robust common standard that does not
require any drivers when connecting to your local computer.  Ala  Ethernet
or WiFi as opposed to USB.  There are several out there, being the 'frugal
guy' I am, I rolled my own:

We have over 8 years on our device, never a problem  (Once I figured out the
undocumented remote reset feature)
