Here's a question for members with offshore experience:

How important are storm plates? Please give us an idea on whether you
use them and how you use them.

We have storm plates 1/2" Herculite)installed. There are spaced 1/4" outside
the exterior wall around the window with a stainless steel support beam in
the center of the panel to limit load and flex.

We had them installed 100% of the Atlantic crossing. They allowed us to run
most of the time with the bottom 1/2 of the double hung windows fully open
and provided a moderate circulation of air without water. They are nice to
have in moderate weather. They are essential to have in heavy seas

I would not do open ocean travel without them.
