National Coalition for Literacy Discussion List
View all threadsColleagues,
Today the NCL has signed on to two letters that are circulating in the larger advocacy community.
A letter led by the Leadership Conference requesting robust funding for the US Postal Service
A letter led by the ALA requesting robust funding for libraries
Both of these are highly relevant to the communities served by the NCL and its members. The letters are attached for your reference.
If your organization would like to sign on to the Postal Service letter, use the link provided in Tamara Chrisler's message below (the deadline has been extended to 5:00 PM today, May 5). If you would like to sign on to the libraries letter, please be in touch with Gavin Baker, mailto:gbaker@alawash.org, by Thursday of this week.
Thank you for your attention to these important initiatives.
Cordially,
Deborah

Subject: SIGN-ON: Congress Must Provide Robust Funding for the United States Postal Service – DEADLINE COB MONDAY, 5/4
Dear Colleagues,
Please consider signing on to the attached letter prepared by The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, urging Congress to provide robust funding for the United States Postal Service
in the next coronavirus response package.
Without Congressional action, the USPS could become insolvent by the end of September 2020. Because the USPS has long played a crucial role in connecting communities of color to economic opportunity
and ensuring that vulnerable populations can stay connected to essential goods and services, we must ensure that this agency has the resources it needs.
If you are able to join this letter, please fill out https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-GD2wzZLuRLeHvWHs5snT3wMm_AseK8iXh81HnpcxbE/viewform?edit_requested=true by COB on Monday, May 4. If you have any questions about the letter, please reach out to Emily Chatterjee (mailto:chatterjee@civilrights.org).
