Scott,
When in the Med, we were asked for copies of our insurance papers
frequently. Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Tunisia, and Spain according to
my recollection.
If you go naked on the boat, be sure to get lots of Umbrella insurance. I
know these can be bought standalone, but I am not sure of the details. As
you suggest, losing your boat is not the worst thing that can happen
We have Pantaenius but lots of folks seem to like Al Golden a lot.
