Just a heads up. Yesterday I went to the above areas (which are adjacent to
each other) and on my way back to my car, a security guard advised me that I
was on private property. She suggested that the trails are off limits now,
which is incorrect based on the following reply from Friends of Second
Marsh:

"Thank you for your email.

GM is currently parking their trucks at the Headquarters on Colonel Sam
Drive. They do not want people accessing trail entrances by walking through
their parking lots.

You can access/view the Second Marsh using other trail entrances to the
McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve.

Please feel free to share this information with others."

Attached to that reply were the following instructions:

.        Pass the GM building at 1908 Col. Sam Drive and proceed to the
roundabout.

.        There is a small road that comes off this roundabout (Townline
Road S.). Take this road.

.        Park on this road or in the parking lot near the Darlington Trail
Entrance.

Jim Richards, who was instrumental in designating these areas as nature
reserves, has also confirmed that all of the trails remain open to the
public. The key is to not park in the GM parking lots, and to not walk
through the parking lots to access the trails.

By the way, yesterday was my first visit there in 3 years and although there
were no Bonaparte's or Little Gulls in the afternoon, there were LOTS of
migrants. It was terrific!
