6/18 Milford, Audubon Coastal Center- 9:25am- 11:15am.  low tide, overcast,
68-70F.
The Coastal Center building is closed to the public during the week for the
summer because we have camp in session.  Grounds are open.
Our Purple martin colony continues to be active, observing one of our PM on
gourd #21 with an orange leg band on left leg.  Our ospreys chicks are
getting quite big, heads popping over the nest.  Parent was feeding the
chicks a fish. On the marsh:  1 Clapper rail, 3 Canada geese, D.C.
Cormorants, willets flew over & 2 Great Egrets.
On the grounds:  2 Mockingbirds, 5 Mourning doves, singing Carolina wren,
Red winged Blackbirds, about 8 House finches, House sparrows, Common
Grackles,  4 Cardinals and 1 Tree swallow in a nest box.
A walk along LIS shoreline-many adult Piping plovers with 6 recently
fledged chicks, 10 American Oystercatchers - two of which were at their
nest further out, 1 Black bellied plover,  1 Snowy Egret foraging in the
lagoon,  several Least terns flying with fish in their beaks.
