Building Strong Career Pathways: New Research & State Examples to Inform
Perkins, HEA, and TANF Reauthorization

As Congress considers reauthorization of key education and workforce
legislation such as the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, Higher
Education Act, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, new research
and innovative practices from the states can help inform the discussion.
This briefing will bring together representatives from industry, community
colleges, and the workforce system to highlight work being done in Kentucky
and Texas to build strong adult education programs that create pathways to
middle-skill jobs. Presenters will also explore how Tennessee business
leaders are driving the development of strong talent pipelines, and will
share results from a new national study on the importance of foundational
skills for workers.
