Hi Bob: I agree that these figures do not sound right but those are the
actual facts based on the data in my log books. Our boat is now almost 30 years
of age and no matter what type of cruising we do the yearly summary is 3
gals/hr (actually 2.98). When I plan our cruises I calculate the approximate hours
and use the 3 g/h to calculate the amount of fuel to place in the tanks. We
can carry 1200 gals (US) and for many years now we only fill with our
estimated usage not counting the base 150 gals. It works for me. Regards. Leonard
