Vuecrest LIFE-Neighbor to Neighbor
Landscape Entry Lights
A big thank you goes out to our Landscape Committee Chair, Mark Mecham, for his “get-it-done” powers. Here’s his report...
I’m happy to report that we finished the LED upgrade project on Park Ave and all entrances this past week. No more mixing and matching of bulbs. This took a little longer than expected but I’m really happy with the work that was done to get us away from our expensive Metal Halide HID lights and into modern LED lights which are rated at 25,000 hours! Metal Halide replacements were running $60+ per bulb and have a fraction of the life that LED has. Here is a clear description on why LED bulbs are far superior to Metal Halide bulbs https://www.ledlightingsupply.com/blog/led-vs-metal-halide-lighting
For those who might like the details, we are running Phillips LED 4000k color bulbs (8.5W, 850 lumens, CRI-90 , 25 degree) up and down Park Ave and at our entrances. Only 5% chance a bulb fails in the first 15,000 hours, pretty impressive how long lasting these bulbs are. In addition, we have some Par20 up lights behind the main walls entrance walls on Park Ave and NE 8th as well as some fluorescent lights that illuminate our signage at all three entrances. We will also be replacing a number of our Kichler grates that sit on top and have broken over the years. We did our best to reseat some of the Kichler in-ground well lights as some were leaning. The lenses have been discontinued but I will keep an eye out to see if I can find some extras.
In addition, all solar sensors are now working (replaced) and lights should not be staying on during the daytime hours. Sometimes on really dark days, cloudy, they might turn on early and go off late, just depends.
Keeping Our Views Intact. Thank you Good Neighbors!
Our neighbors at 9668 Evergreen have taken on the responsibility for the removal of a very large view blocking tree and we’d like to offer up our thanks! The tree was removed on February 1st.
Also in the same vicinity... this last July our neighbors at 9649 Vineyard removed a very large spruce tree that actually started out as a Christmas tree decades ago. This is a good to reminder to the rest of us that trees tend to go “JUMBO” in the Northwest, so plant dwarf species in Vuecrest to avoid costs down the road. Also, thanks to our neighbor at 9643 Vineyard for sending his gardener to help with the tree removal process.
We are so appreciative to all of our neighbors who take our CC&R’s seriously and care about the protected views surrounding their property. You rock!!!

Hope you plan to share Valentine’s Day with someone you love!
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
It’s true that all you need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt. -Charles Schulz
