Summer Ice Cream Social on the Esplanade

What’s not to like about FREE ice cream!  And, why does it taste so much better when eaten with friends? Our Social Director, Li Wong, put together another fun “pop-up” event just a couple days before her daughter’s wedding to be held at her Vuecrest home. This Mother-of-the-Bride deserves the cool-as-a-cucumber-multi-tasking award!

Everyone in attendance had so much fun watching both adults and kids navigate the wayward paths of melting ice cream as we attempted to get more in the mouth than on ourselves. I was particularly unsuccessful, but enjoyed it all the more. (But to be fair, when does the chocolate coating actually stay on the ice cream bar?!)  P.S.-Thanks for the great pictures, Judith!

We’d love to see you at our next event! Li has some great plans in the works for a Halloween Pumpkin Judging Contest and a December visit from Santa Claus. Stay tuned for more neighborhood fun!

Let’s Talk Mailboxes

Have you noticed how spiffy Vuecrest is looking?! The lampposts are painted, streets redone, landscaping in order, and our new flag is flying high. Sometimes it’s not a single item, but the combination that creates an upscale neighborhood ambiance. But, as we all know, there’s always room for improvement. Basically-our mailboxes. Quite a few are showing their age and are screaming for a little TLC. During the summer it’s so easy to dry brush away all the moss, lichen, and debris, then add a little roof oil to those weathered shingles. Why not make it a weekend project while the weather is good? Your neighbors will thank you and I’ll post outstanding clean ups in the Newsletter. Be sure to take before and after pictures, then send them my way to Rebecca at newsletter@vuecrest. mailto:newsletter@vuecrest.comnet.

Join the Team! New Neighborhood Director’s Needed

We have six Vuecrest Directors that make the important decisions for our neighborhood. Each year, two new Directors are elected as two retire from their leadership roles. In addition, we have many committee members and chairs who assist our Directors. This three year rotating schedule with two Directors being elected each year is a great system. It allows a fair distribution of workload and the constant onboarding of fresh opinions and ideas.

The effort involved in these positions is generally 2-3 hours for our monthly meeting (now held remotely) and 2-3 hours per month answering emails, viewing properties, etc.  If you are dedicated to the welfare of your community (as a whole) and your neighbors (as individuals), this may be a good place for you. You will be surrounded by HOA veterans who will teach you the ropes.  No experience necessary.

Please contact directors@vuecrest.net mailto:directors@vuecrest.net with your questions and willingness to serve.  Also, feel free to submit the name of a community member who you feel might be a good candidate who will be contacted to discuss the details of the opportunity. We look forward to working with you!

Dylan’s Neighborhood Food Drive Wed, Sept 1st at 4:00P

Dylan, a Junior in High School and one of our Vuecrest neighbors, will continue to pick up food donations the first Wednesday of each month to assist the Renewal Food Bank. Please text or call Dylan at 425.442.7385 for more information regarding a pickup at the end of your driveway. The world needs more young people like Dylan!
