Sorry for the late response. Here are the Hearst Museum's responses to
these proposed code contributions for v4.1:
- Alternating lighter and darker backgrounds, to make it easier to
distinguish repeatable (multivalued) groups of fields from one another.
The Hearst Museum does not currently have this functionality, and it's not
high on our wish wish, but we'd welcome it.
- Docking a record's title bar to keep record ID and type in sight.
We would find this very helpful, as our users do a lot of scrolling back up
to the top to confirm which record they're viewing.
- Create new from existing - if you've created the record via a template,
the create new from existing button will bring you to a new record view of
that same template.
We do not yet use templates (we hope to soon), but we do use Create new
from existing very often. Having this new feature would make the use of
templates easier for us, as we catalog like items together (i.e., perform
data entry for a set of items that would all use the same template).
- Adding a "run batch process" menu under the report menu. This can be
hidden if your org doesn't currently use batch processing.
We do currently use this feature and find it quite helpful in correcting
some simple problems that would otherwise require rather elaborate
workarounds. We don't use it heavily, but when we do, we're grateful we
have it.
