Dear Organizers,
I am in the process of making plans for Montreal so would appreciate
knowing if interest has been expressed by junior faculty in my talking with
them about how to successfully submit and deal with commercial publishing
houses. Also I need to know is if there is proposed date for all the coffee
meetings, or if they are to be individually scheduled when the senior
person is available. Thanks.
By the way, I think the coffees are a great idea.
Best, John Palen

CUSS-folks,
Thanks to those who expressed interest in participating in the Mentoring
Sessions at the ASA in Montreal! We have 61 participants: 24 grad students,
22 Associate/Full Professors, and 15 Assistant Professors.
We wanted to send a 'last call,' for participants, with a particular
request for Assistant Professors to balance out our ratio. The original
email is below.
Happy start of the semester!

Hello CUSS-folks,
For the 2017 ASA we will be creating small mentoring teamsÿÿmatching
graduate students with junior and senior scholars around areas of
interestÿÿto meet over coffee at ASA. These will be informal sessions to
talk about anything: the job market, publishing tips, careers, etc. Other
sections have done this to great success, and we hope there will be
enthusiasm with CUSS members as well!
The coffee will be paid for by the section.
If you will be in Montreal and want to participate, please complete the
brief form (CLICK HERE

with your name, rank, email address, and areas of expertise. We'll play
matchmaker and put you in contact with each other to arrange your meetings
by April 1st. Weÿÿll even recommend a nearby café or two.
We look forward to hearing from you!
