Visitors:
We thank today's observers and those interested in the ongoing Hawk Count.
There were many more visitors than hawks today! Due to COVID-19
restrictions, access to the top level of Hawk Tower is limited to hawk
counters and qualified observers only. The 2nd and lower levels are open to
the public practising COVID-19 safe precautions (social distancing). Thank
you for your understanding and involvement.

Weather:
A light wind from the south all day, sometimes calm. Temperature rose from
22c to a high of 31.5c in the early afternoon. Overcast all day but with
good visibility. There was a slight rain shower before mid morning.

Raptor Observations:
Another slow day, with highlights; 2 Merlin chasing each other through the
trees and a nice gray ghost male Northern Harrier passing close to the
tower. Others were 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks, a male American Kestrel and 4
Turkey Vultures determinedly making their way west along the shoreline.

Non-raptor Observations:
Not much flying today apart from hirundines. A reasonable number of Warbler
(11) and Vireo (3) species were seen, including a Prothonotary and Wilson's
Warbler and another Philadelphia Vireo. There were good numbers of
waterbirds on the marsh including 38 Great Egret. More Gadwall are starting
to appear.  For the eBird list checkout

Predictions:
Tomorrow is forecast to be sunny with clouds, similar temperature to today.
The wind is likely to have a northern component tomorrow so hopefully that
will bring more hawks!
