Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsJim: /thanks for your input. Now I know Two Jim Roberts. I had the
opportunity a number of years ago to visit on a Capte Dory Sailboat
with the delivery captain. My tour revealed a Ruger Mini 14, with a swing down stockmounted to the bulhead in the V-Berth. I asked him "you find much use for that offshore?" His Reply: "When
your out there off shore it is you and who you meet?
George: Interesting how many Ladies Hand gun classes are full up
for months in advance in Florida and every other state in the Union.
Ammunition cost are sky-rocketing and inventorys are tough to keep
up.. Combat training? When you kit in the survival mode, I think your going to do fine.
Interestinlgy with this recessionary/economic times, and so many folks
out of work how the crimes are escalating in a lot of places. I will Quote

This originally began as a discussion of the need for a gun on the loop.
Apart from the NE corner of the gulf, there is really no significant off
shore running on the loop. Cruising the Caribbean may be another story. But
then bad guys on the high seas are surely going to have more and badder
artillery than a Ruger mini 14.

David: I was just recounting a conversation. It was another guy
who mentioned his exeriences in the Bahamas and stuff
It appears this topic has been beaten to death anyway so we probably
out to move on with something else.
