You posted a very good summary. For solvent, I use Methyl Ethyl Ketone,
not expensive, even from Amazon, and apply to the gaps using a 5mL
syringe, with a blunt needle from the same source - just a couple of
drops and it 'wicks in'. You can get 500ml of MEK, for about the same
price as you'd pay for 50mL at a model shop.
