Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who lived and died during the Holocaust.
The Frank family hid from the Nazis for two long years in a Secret Annex at
the back of a warehouse. During that time, Anne kept a diary in which she
not only wrote about the horrors of war but the everyday problems of being
a teenager.

About the Play:

This 1955 play, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, won the Tony Award
and Critics Circle Award for best play.  The play was also awarded the
Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Why This Play?

Tacoma Youth Theatre strives to foster empathy, self-esteem, and respect
with young actors.  As an educational theatre, young actors don’t often get
an opportunity to present responsive and socially relevant material.  The
best theatre responds the time and place in which we live. THE DIARY OF
ANNE FRANK provides an opportunity for young actors to tell a powerful
story that will reflect and inform the world in which we live.
