Hello Gators,
Now that Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas is still a few weeks away, what's the obvious thing to do? Well, think about your 2016 event calendar, of course!
After you read this message, please think about your upcoming year and reply back with events that you are considering and for which there is at least a 50/50 chance in which you will participate. Also, for any relay events, please indicate if you are interested in participating... And we'll put you with a team if you do not already have one in mind. Please include all types of events... Spartan, swim only, Tough Mudder, any run longer than a 5K, etc.
We'd like to get your reply by Sunday, December 13 so that we can discuss some of the results at the Thursday, December 17 Annual Members Meeting.
Attached is a first pass at the "2016 Who's In?" that includes the following...
. Details: Event names, type, distance, location, and dates; includes events from the 2015 calendar that had at least two Gator participants, 2016 events (so far) that have at least one Gator participant, and other events that have been popular in the past. A few events are already sold out... These are indicated.
. Relays: Indication of which events have relay options (see "Relay Options" column), because... Relays are awesome! We've only done about 1-2 team relay events over the past couple of years and, based on how much we've enjoyed them, we'd like to add even more for 2016, culminating with a club weekend in Lake George, NY over Labor Day Weekend at the "Lake George Triathlon Festival" that includes an Olympic Tri (individual and relay) and kids' "splash and dash" swim/run event on Saturday and a Half Ironman Tri (individual and relay) on Sunday.
. Club Events: Indication of which events are likely club events (I.e. there should be a lot of us there along with the club tent if possible).
. Piranha Events: Indication of which events are Piranha events (see "PIRANHA" listed under the "Event Type" column)... We placed 3rd in 2015 in Piranha's "Greater Atlantic Club Challenge"... Points are earned by every individual that completes an event, so you may want to consider including some of the 11 events in your schedule.
. Ragnar Las Vegas: We're considering registering a team for this 12 person 200+ mile relay event taking place in early November in Las Vegas (starts at a ski resort; ends at a Vegas resort). Each runner does a total of 3 legs totaling 13-23 miles (most totals are 14-17 miles). We currently have 8-10 people interested... Please indicate if you are interested in participating in this event as we're need to commit early (Jan-Feb timeframe) if we are to secure a spot.
For most events, if you click on the event name you will be taken to the event website so you can see some details such as cost, course info, location info, etc. Also, if you need any input on an event, let me know or see the "2015 Who's In?" event calendar and you can find the names of past participants that you can contact.
