CCWC Members and Friends,

Please join the Chambers-Clover Watershed Council on Wednesday, September 17th, for a special meeting focused on the recent treatment of Wapato Lake for toxic algae.  We'll have the opportunity to see the lake first-hand, learn about the results of the recent alum treatment and ask questions of knowledgeable experts.  We will also be hearing briefly about updates on other lakes in the watershed, including Tule, Spanaway, Waughop and Steilacoom lakes.

Field Trip (2:00 to 3:15 p.m.):  Meet at the Wapato Lake Boathouse (S. Sheridan Ave. & S. 68th St., Tacoma) for a guided tour of the site, including a tour of the nearby stormwater conveyance system.

Meeting (3:30 to 5:30 p.m.):  Following the field trip, we will meet at the boat house on Wapato Lake for presentations and discussion.  We will hear from the City of Tacoma, Metro Parks and UW-Tacoma about inflows to the lake, lake conditions and the recent alum treatment.  We will also have updates on conditions and activities in Tule, Spanaway, Waughop and Steilacoom lakes.

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN DAY, TIME AND LOCATION FROM OUR USUAL MEETING SCHEDULE.  An agenda for this meeting is available on our website at www.piercecountywa.org/ccwc.

We'll return to our normal schedule for October's meeting (10/8, 3:30-5:30), which will focus on the marine nearshore in our watershed.  Please also mark your calendar for an all-day nearshore field trip the following Friday, 10/10, 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  More information will be available shortly.

Thanks and I hope to see you soon!

Melissa
