p.m. by Townsend Dickinson and me, getting dark as tide nearing high.
Also present were Sora (only bird that was cooperative), Nelson's
Sparrow. Same location as previously noted. Rusty Blackbird among
Cowbirds at feeder.

at feeder in backyard behind garage. Birders are welcome. Note: There
is now an orange arrow marking the driveway. Also there will be
workers in the yard this week building a chimney on our garden house,
hopefully this won't be to disruptive.

on lawn to the west of the parking lot under and around the picnic
tables before the board walk.

feeding at the pond at 14:09. The Golden Plovers were around, then
headed off to a different part of the field.

and 2 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER continue with great looks. The Avocets
actively feeding in the pond, and the Plovers along with Killdeer in
the grass just beyond the pond.

10/31/10 - Windsor, at the Konica Minolta building, 500 Day Hill Road
-- 2:00 PM, located an adult Barnacle Goose mixed in with about
200-300 Canada's. The bird was first observed feeding in the grass in
front of the building, but then was flushed into the pond (only later
to come out again). There was also one maybe two Cackling/hutchinsii
Geese there as well. The building is on the left about 2 miles
(east?) from the intersection with Route 187.

10/31/10 - Windsor, off Day Hill Road, in front of the Konica Minolta
Building -- at 3:15 PM, we couldn't find the Cackling Geese, the
Barnacle Goose was quite easy to pick out amidst the several hundred
Canadas feeding on the lawn in front of the building. The geese wre
still present when we left past 3:45 PM.

10/31/10 - Glastonbury, Glastonbury Meadows -- 1 NORTHERN SHOVELER, 1
BROWN CREEPER, 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW, 25 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS and 2
PURPLE FINCH. 56 species were noted. We ended the trip with a
possible Lark Sparrow but unfortunately our views were hindered due to
backlight. Attempts to relocate the bird were unsuccessful.

10/31/10 - Greenwich, Quaker Ridge -- The Tennessee Warbler continues
in the upper fields at the site and an Orange-crowned was around the
"Teenage Woods" area. Interestingly a group of birders from NYC had a
Tennessee almost contemporaneously with my sighting down in the
Orchard so maybe there are two Tennessee Warblers here at a
surprisingly late date. The NY group also reported a continuing
Lincoln's Sparrow. Later, 1 Golden Eagle, 1 Northern Goshawk and a
few hundred Snow Geese.

10/31/10 - Wallingford, Mackenzie Reservoir -- Cackling Goose and
Greater White-fronted Goose around 11 AM.
New Haven, Lighthouse Point Park -- A quick stop from 4:25 to 5:10
p.m. produced a slew of sparrows in the butterfly garden, including, 9
imm. White-crowned Sparrows feeding together with 1 Lincoln's Sparrow
(among others).
Middletown(?), Middletown Avenue Landfill off I91 -- 8 Black Vultures
circling with 12 Turkey Vultures over the dump and highway around 2
p.m. I've seen them there twice before in the last two weeks.

10/31/10 - Old Lyme(?), Lord's Cove -- Took my boat up into Lord's
Cove late this morning. A group 185 AMERICAN COOT is by far the most
I have ever seen in the Cove.

Black Scoters, 1 flyby Snow Bunting.
Jennings Beach -- 1 Cattle Egret that quickly landed and then took off
